A 16-year-old boy, Gerry Stull was being held by police for questioning in connection with the butcher knife slaying of Miss Myrtle Cabeen, 72, whose nude body found in the bathtub of her home. Two boys told police they watched through windows of the victim's apartment as the youth dragged the body from living room to the bathroom. Chief of Detectives Raymond Johnson, stated that when seized, Stull was wearing bloody trousers and had been drinking heavily.
