1956 Press Photo Protesters gather in front of Stalin Monument in Budapest

The huge Stalin Monument in the Hungarian capital city of Budapest, shown above in 1955 as a group of high ranking Soviet and Hungarian Communist leaders attended ceremonies there, was the prime target of demonstrators 10/23 as thousands of Hungarians demanded the ouster of Russian troops from the country.
