Description
This is the magnificent altar of the new Coventry Cathedral as seen from the pulpit. To the left of the chancel are the choir seats. Beyond the chancel is the altar itself, with its splendid tapestry "Christ in Majesty" by Graham Sutherland. The largest tapestry in the world, 78 feet, 9 inches high and 39 feet, 4 inches wide, the work took 15 French weavers three years to make. The new cathedral will be consecrated on May 25th in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II.
