It stands for beauty alone now - a bridge without an function since 1974, when increased traffic had outgrown its capacity and it was retired from use. It was built in 1927 and was named the Harlan D. Miller Bridge, in honor of the chief of the old California Bridge Department. But it's commonly called Dog Creek bridge, after the stream it spans, some 20 miles north of Redding in north central California.

Photo is dated 1986.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
