1953 Press Photo Cable car at the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio De Janeiro.

Description
A cable car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf mountain is one of the highlights of a trip to Rio de Janeiro. The big rocky peak that has become Rio's trademark drives its name from the fact that in the old days when Brazil was a Portuguese colony, sugar was sold in loaves shaped like the mountainous hump.

Photo is dated 1953.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
