This is Kitty Wells first publicity photo. From 1937 she sang on radio and personal appearances until 1949 when she started recording gospel music for RCA. In May of 1952 she recorded country for DECCA Records. Kitty Well's first release was a million seller, "It Was God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels."
