United States Air Force Planes and Bombers: This is a Convair RB-36D, the type of giant United States Air Force reconnaissance bomber which today plunged in flames into the North Atlantic. Searching planes reported sighting survivors on the high seas 420 miles west of Prestwick, Scotland. The plane with a crew of 23 aboard, was on a training mission from Travis Air Force Base in California to England.
