Here is the first "full dress" meeting of General Dwight D. Eisenhower commander of North Atlantic treaty nations' armed forces, and some of his deputies. Seated beside Eisenhower is British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. In the rear are (from left) General Maurizio de Castiglioni of Italy; General Alfred M. Grunter an American and Eisenhower's chief of staff, and General Ebbe Gortz, commander of ground forces in Denmark.
