In the final of the 50 yard high hurdles, four runners moved as one over a barrier. Wisconsin's Mike Butler (second from right) won the event, and equalled his indoor record of 5.9 seconds. The other hurdlers are (from left) Larry Midlam of Michigan, Paul Gibson of Texas-El Paso and George Byers of Kansas. It was the fourth time Butler had run 5.9 in Journal games.
