Panama Canal In Line For Expansion " Here is a view of the Panama Canal's huge Miraflores lock with the Miraflores spillways in the background. The canal is now in line for expansion to meet future needs of peacetime commerce and national defense. Legislation has been introduced in Congress to study and revise all plans of canal expansion and defense. The governor of the zone would be authorized to carry on the survey and report to Congress before December 31, 1941.
