Raymond C. Firestone, The Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., Akron, Ohio --- Raymond C. Firestone, president of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., Monday told a 4-H club leaders' breakfast to retain the organization's basic principles and philosophy, "The most important 4-H principles are to work on your own, to learn that competition and co-operation can exist side by side, to have respect for advice and leadership and to build character," he said. Any sacrifice of those principles, Firestone said, "would weaken, not only 4-H but also our country."
