Speed. That's the mark of quality in a relay race, and when the end comes it is often a last minute burst of speed that propels the victor across the finish line. Journal cameras tried to keep pace with the fastest tracks stars in the nation at The Journal's 16th annual indoor track meet Saturday at the Arena. To achieve the effect of motion, photographer Heinz Kluetmeier panned (followed) his camera on the two speedy runners at right, who moved with grace and agility on the Arena boards. the games were a big success for a trio of talented University of Wisconsin athletes. Mike Butler equalled his own world record in the 50 yard high hurdles, Ray Arrington won the 1,000 yard run and Mark Winzenried was the victor in the 880 yard run. Milwaukee Journal-Track Meet 1969
