United Nations' New Quarters. The United Nation's - Interior - new conference building which opened February 27 last, and the new Assembly building which will be ready for the first General Assembly meeting on October 14, represent the last word in modernity. At top is a meeting at the Council Table; at bottom, the amphitheater in the center of the Assembly building. It's circular walls resemble a gigantic pipe organ. Embedded in the walls are glass-front booths for interpreters, newsreel men, radio and television commentators. The desks and seats for 636 delegates in the center carry out a blue and green color scheme. At the opposite end is the gallery seating 800 visitors and 234 press.
