Description
The campus of La Cross State universities the second youngest institution in the state university system. It opened in 1909 with 19 faculty members and 175 students. Today enrollment stands at 5,459 students with faculty numbering approximately 300. There are 22 buildings on the campus, including 12 dormitories. As in its early normal school days, physical education is still considered the special major at La Crosse, but other areas are expanding rapidly. Classes are offered in 24 departments, divided into three undergraduate colleges.
