Description
Calcutta, India: Red flags fluttering, jubilant Communist supporters parade through streets here 2/10 celebrating a major victory in West Bengal's state elections. The Communist-domintaed United Front won at least 167 of the 280 seats in the state assembly while Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's Congress Party claimed only 46. Political observers attributed the Communist victory to the rough manner in which Mrs. Gandhi handled the change two years ago when she removed the state's Communist government and replaced it with federal rule.
