1968 Press Photo Bishop Laurian Cardinal Rugambwa and others in Indianapolis

Laurian Cardinal Rugambwa, bishop of Bukoba, Tanganyika, arrived in Indianapolis Thursday for the 48th national convention of the Knights of St. Peter Claver, a Negro Catholic fraternal organization. Cardinal Rugambwa, the first Negro prince of the Catholic church, was greeted by Mayor Albert Losche and Archbishop Paul C. Shulte.
