Coon Valley, Wisconsin. The ghosts of Coon Valley's past may soon be smiling as the area's Norwegian culture of the mid-1800's comes to life again. Timed to coincide with the area's Norwegian Syttende Mai Family Festival, May 13-15, the Bekkum Homestead at Norsekedalen will be opened to the public. Norsekedalen, or Norwegian Valley, is a 352 acre site 15 miles southwest of La Crosse, near Coon Valley. It is a preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the area. The buildings were assembled to depict early Norwegian culture in Wisconsin.
