Edward J. Semling (left) and William J. Wiench were charged in the tavern slaying. Two men who police say might have wanted only to scare the patrons of a bar where they had been quarreling were charged Tuesday with homicide by reckless conduct. Court Commissioner Thomas Cooper ordered William J. Wiench, 26, of 1583-A South Union Street, and Edward J. Semling, 26, of 3382 South 22nd Street, held on $10,000 bail and set a preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. November 7. Wiench and Semling are charged in the death of Eric Jones, 22, of 4535 South Whitnall Avenue, Cudahy, who was hit by a shotgun blast from a car passing the bar at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
