Description
John Holentunder of Milwaukee clears branches that fell on the driveway and yard at Frank Conrad's home in the 2500 block of Lilly Road in Brookfield during Thursday's snowstorm. Holentunder, who does yardwork for the Conrads, chopped up the branches before hauling them off. A man clears snow from the windshield of his car, parked along Main Street in Hartford. On this date in 1990, a spring snowstorm shocked southeastern Wisconsin with as much as 8 inches of wet, heavy snow, knocking out power lines and damaging trees. Like many area citizens, John Holentunder spent the morning clearing downed branches in Brookfield. More agreeable temperatures and activities warmed the area this year. Luke Stawn, 13, launches his kite at Longfellow Middle School in Wauwatosa. Seventh-graders held a kite festival Thursday to end a social studies night about Japan. Mari Sugita, a Japanese intern at the school, helped teach the unit and assisted at the festival.
