1980 Press Photo Frederick Stratton, president of Briggs & Stratton, Wisconsin

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
When Briggs & Stratton Corp. turned out its billionth automotive lock Wednesday, President Frederick P. Stratton, right, took time out for a recognition ceremony. With Stratton are Alma Hausladen, a 46 year employee of the firm, and William Rollo, vice president and general manager of the Lock Division. Better known for its small engines that power lawn mowers and other equipment, Briggs & Stratton has produced enough lock and keys to supply every car produced in US history with nearly three locks. In addition to its lock plant at 3333 W. Good Hope Rd., Glendale, where Wednesday's ceremony was held, Briggs & Stratton has a lock plant in Perry, Georgia.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches. Photo is dated 09-25-1980.
