The Arco Juneau, which was the first oil tanker to carry North Slope Alaskan crude from the Valdez oil terminal after it opened in 1977, loads up again against the spectacular backdrop of one of the 15,000-foot peaks that ring the fjord-like harbor. The 883-foot tanker carried more than 1.3 billion gallons of oil to refineries in Washington and Southern California.
