For natural reasons, the Schlitz Audubon Center, 1111 E. Brown Deer Road, Bayside, has chosen not to remove fallen trees along the Lake Michigan shoreline just north of Doctors Park. The trees, which fell during the the high water period along Lake Michigan in 1986 and 1987, help slow erosion, Audubon director Bob Nichols says, adding, "They're there to protect the beach. It's serving a purpose."
