1978 Press Photo Gillen company divers work to refloat the freighter Photinia

Working from the barge, divers from the Gillen company will try to locate the holes in the ship's hull. Temporary plugs will be used and the holds pumped out to refloat the freighter. The workmen are hampered by the muddy waters ad have to do everything by touch. While repairs are being made, the 33 members of the crew are staying at the Marc Plaza Hotel, and are taking turns standing watch aboard the ship for security and to check for seeping fuel.
