Don Smith with his replica of the original Ferris wheel which was 265 feet high. The summer of 1993 marks the 100th anniversary of the Ferris wheel. County fairs across the state of Wisconsin will be operating Ferris wheels in honor of the first one, and thanks to people like Don Smith, they are in luck. Smith a member of the Wisconsin Association of Fairs, build a model of the Ferris wheel for others to use as a guide.
