The compact campus at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire (left) contrasts sharply with that of UW - Oshkosh (below) where campus buildings meet city residential areas head on. There are 30 buildings on the Eau Claire campus with much of the building going up in the 1960s on mostly open land, so few private buildings were taken. At Oshkosh, the campus expanded primarily on city lots as they became available. However, there are still some ill feelings that the university is taking over at Oshkosh.
