They don't make snowshoes the way they used to. Once made of wood, today's shoes are more likely to be made of aluminum with a spike on the bottom. Joel Braatz, considered one of the sports top racers, prefers the old shoes, which were made of ash wood with rawhide nets. Braatz, along with Dennis Raymark, are two of the favorites to win in the competition at the Badger State Winder Games. Snowshoeing
