1982 Press Photo Janice Terry, has progressive heart disease, Mount Sinai

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Janice Terry, 30, and Thomas Jensen, 34, are both dying of progressive heart disease. Both are patients at Mount Sinai Medical Center. There is a possibility that Jensen may get a heart transplant at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California. But the future for Terry is still uncertain. On welfare, she will have to persuade Medicaid to pay for hers and Medicaid generally does not pay for such costly experimental procedures.

Photo measures 9.5 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 01-02-1982.
