1979 Press Photo Ardell Sever checks sewer blasting site at Pewaukee, Wisconsin

Old tires bound together with thick strands of cable were piled at a sewer blasting site on Waukesha County Highway SS east of Pewaukee. Ardell Sever, who works for a construction company, checked the site before the blast. The tires reduce the shock of the explosion and prevent chunks of earth and rock from being thrown into the air.
