Washington: Representative Paul Tsongas of Massachusetts, 37, who defeated Senator Edward Brooke in the November 7 election tells a news conference November 9 that his first big job will be to take a poll to find out why people voted for him in his winning bid for Brooke's U.S. Senate seat. He said Brooke's divorce and financial difficulties no doubt hurt Brooke, the Senate's only black, but hoped that they were not the major factors in his victory.
