1980 Press Photo Construction of the New Federal Building at the Towne Hotel

The Towne Hotel on North 3rd Street was fenced off Tuesday after a dispute with the wrecking firm halted work at the site of the new Federal Building. Another dispute with the same firm has stopped demolition work on the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company building at East Mason and North Van Buren Streets. In both cases, officials said a new firm would be hired. The Towne Hotel.
