Life Saver -- John Taylor, of North Prairie, received the highest American Red Cross award for lifesaving at a recognition ceremony at Carroll College Wednesday. He earned the award for saving a friend from drowning in the waters of the Golden Staircase Falls near Montreal Falls, Ontario, last August. Taylor, 18, dived into the 25-foot deep river and swarm 150 feet to rescue his friend, who had lost his life jacket while swimming.
