1995 Press Photo Oscar Mayer Weinermobile display at Milwaukee Institute of Art

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
It is hard to overlook a car designed by Brooks Stevens, whether it was the wacky Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, (lower right), the elegant Excalibur (upper right) or the rough-and-ready civilian Jeep (upper Left). But Stevens' vision touched all things great and small, from 52-foot cruisers for Chris Craft Corp. to the Coronado toaster, which had tilt-down sides for easier removal of toast and crumbs. Stevens, of Mequon, died Wednesday at Columbia Hospital, apparently of heart failure.

Photo measures 10 x 6.25 inches. Photo is dated 1-5-1995.
