Vatican City: Blessed John Nepomucene Neumann (portrait) Bishop of Philadelphia in the mid-19th century and one of the founders of the U.S. Parochial School System, may become the first American man proclaimed a Roman Catholic Saint by this Fall, Vatican sources said 6.8. Michael Flanigan of Philadelphia who suffered from Ewing's sarcoma, a form of cancer in 1964 was miraculously cured by prayers to Neumann.
