1983 Press Photo Thousands wait in line for 200 jobs at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee

A line with thousands of people snaked through State Fair Park in West Allis as people waited to apply for 200 new welding and press-operation jobs at A.O. Smith Corporation in Milwaukee. Police estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people, many more than were expected, sought jobs.
