1982 Press Photo John Savorias to receive military decoration Legion of Merit

John L. Savorias will be officially recognized Tuesday as a hero for a second time -- 37 years late -- for organizing a retreat to save soldiers' lives so they could fight again. He will be presented the Legion of Merit, one of this nation's highest military decorations, by Maj. Gen. Robert Erffmeyer, 84th Reserve Division commander, at the North Shore American Legion Post, 4121 N. Wilson Dr., Shorewood.
