1988 Press Photo A passer-by heckles Pledge of Resistance demonstrators

Description
Rejoicing over defeat -- Pledge of Resistance members celebrated the defeat of the contra aid plan in Congress with a rally Friday in front of Reuss Federal Plaza. The demonstration originally was scheduled to protest the $30.8 million plan to aid the Nicaraguan rebels, but the plan's unexpected defeat Thursday by the US House turned a demonstration into a celebration, said Sister Margaret Dunn, a spokeswoman for the Pledge of Resistance. Above: Jill Sternberg and Catherine Fontanazza carried signs during the demonstration. Right: A passer-by, who refused to give his name, heckled the demonstrators.
