1964 Press Photo Rocking chair from 1800 on porch , Portage, Wisconsin

A rocking chair from about 1800 has a platform for the feet. The navy and white coverlet, still in perfect condition, was "wove in 1829," as it says, to commemorate the Declaration of Independence. The mantel is the only original one left in the house; others had been removed and had to be replaced. Indian Agency House-Portage, Wisconsin
