Description
Standing proud with veteran Salvation Army torchbearers, Natalie Yader, 9, takes her place in the organization's annual torchlight march Friday night on Wisconsin Avenue. The ceremony kicked off the annual "Tree of Lights" campaign, in which volunteers with their bells and collection kettles take their stands Saturday to 126 locations. The campaign provides money for a food pantry, emergency rental assistance and a shelter for homeless people. Last year, people in the Milwaukee area deposited $1.26 million into the familiar red kettles.
