1987 Press Photo Waukesha Salvation Army Wisconsin, The Qualler Family Volunteer

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The Qualler family - Justin 9, Mary Lou, Jim and Adams, 12 accepted a donation from a passerby as they spent Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brookfield Square. The Brookfield family donated their time as bell-ringers for the Waukesha Salvation Army, Wisconsin. Joan Schlesing, administrative assistant for the Salvation Army, said the group was looking for more families to volunteer as bell ringers during the Christmas season. She said that last year $10,000 was spent on wages for paid bell-ringer because there were not enough volunteers to staff the organization's locations. Schlessing said the Salvation Army had 20-25 locations throughout the county and had openings for single, family or group volunteers.

Photo measures 9.5 x 6.75 inches. Photo is dated 11-30-1987.
