Hanukkah festival: Benjamin Lipper, 4, practices lighting the first candle of Hanukkah under the watchful eye of his sister, Miryam, 18 months at Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun where their father, David, is a rabbi. The 19th century Italian menorah is part of the synagogue's extensive collection of Judaica. Another piece from the collection is an 18th century brass oil lamp (above) with the lions of Judah flanking a heart.
