William Flake, left, was fined $500 and sentenced to six months in the Yuma Territorial Prison for practicing polygamy. He did that time in a cell like the one at right, with iron bunks crowded into a space 7 feet by 9 feet. Sanitary facilities consisted of a slop pail shared by all six of the cell's inmates.
