Waves slam over the breakwater at Port Washington Thursday morning as northerly winds howled down Lake Michigan. The Coast Guard warned of gale-force wind and waves of 8 to 12 feet. But the breakwater did its job for the birds, as gulls and ducks huddled for shelter. (storms-snow) (Milwaukee-Wisconsin)
