David Purdy, assistant shop supervisor at Hydro-Thermal Corp., Wauwatosa, makes a final adjustment on a hydroheater which the company is shipping to a Stone Container Corp. plant in Panama City, Fla. Hydro-Thermal said it believes the header it the largest of its type ever build in terms of both size and capacity. It is designed to heat 5,000 gallons of fluid per minute. Stone Container plans to use the product for kraft paper stock slurry, heating the slurry from 90 degrees to 120 degrees instantly by direct contact with steam. The Hydro-Thermal unit stands 10 feet tall.
