1986 Press Photo Chemical leak discovered at Hydro-Plater, Inc on Walnut Street

Danger Area - Officials used snow fencing to seal off an area where a chemical was discovered to have been leaking from the Hydro-Platers, Inc. plant at 3033 W. Walnut Street. Officials said the material leaked from cracks in the building and ran down an embankment along the building, creating dark streaks. authorities think the area along the west side of the nearby railroad track is contaminated for about a block.
