1993 Press Photo Milwaukee workers measuring ice depth at Humboldt Park lagoon

Milwaukee County Parks Department workers Dennis Rackowski (left) and Duane Jozwiakowski measured the ice Monday at the Humboldt Park lagoon. The ice's average depth was 5 to 5 1/2 inches. According to Regional Manager Dennis Carey, the department considers 6 to 7 inches safe to skate on.
