For years James Edward Jenkins dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player. He dreamed it as a youngster growing up on Milwaukee's North Side, where he lived with his mother and nine sisters and brothers. He dreamed it as a teenager at Boys' Technical High School where he was named the team's high scorer during his college, where he got a degree in health and physical education in 1973.
