Policemen were honored Wednesday by the State Street Advancement association and the Miller Brewing Company. Chief Howard Johnson (center) received a civic service award and Patrolman James Mallette (right) was honored for heroism. Mallette, 27, of 6119 North 35th Street, saved the life of a 7 year old boy by using mouth to mouth resuscitation, although knowing that the child had measles. Johnson's award was presented by Richard Block (left), 2709 North Farwell Avenue, senior member of the fire and police commission. Howard O. Johnson is dead. Negative # 640026, January 9, 1964.
