Honored Monday for their efforts in establishment of what is now the Wisconsin industrial research council were John H. Smith (left) and Harry Hoffman (center). Smith is a professor of marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and president of the WIRC. Hoffman is head of Hoffman-York, Inc., an advertising and public relations firm. Presenting plaques to them was Lester W. Brann, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, which originally created and financed the council.
