Milwaukee - Fire Department - Firemen - On top of things - Firefighters chopped a hole in a roof Wednesday while fighting a fire at 1630-A South 2nd Street. Jerome Wichers, a battalion chief, said the fire apparently started when a bag was ignited near a gas stove. The blaze spread throughout the building, causing an estimated $8.000 in damage. A woman fled safely with her daughter, 6 and son, 18 months.
