1958 Press Photo Gaylord Nelson takes oath of office as Governor of Wisconsin

Gov. Gaylord A. Nelson raised his right hand and took his oath of office in ceremonies Monday at Madison. The new chief executive was sworn in by Chief Justice John E. Martin (right). Nelson was inaugurated as Wisconsin's 36th governor and the first Democratic head of the state government since 1934.
